As photovoltaic cell technologies continue to evolve, new innovations are driving deeper integration between solar modules and encapsulation materials. Each cell technology offers distinct advantages, while differentiated encapsulation films have become essential for improving system efficiency and reducing the Levelized Cost of Electricity (LCOE).
Since 2024, Back Contact (BC) technology has achieved remarkable progress, with the mass production efficiency of BC cells expected to exceed 28%, prompting leading module manufacturers to actively enter this market.
To meet the unique requirements of BC module encapsulation, Betterial has introduced encapsulation technologies, including:
- Ultra-Barrier Encapsulation Film for BC Modules
- Betterial® High-Reflective Black Encapsulation Film
- High-Reflective Black Backsheet
- Wisdom® BC Insulating Adhesive
These technologies significantly improve the reliability and stability of BC modules.
1. Ultra-Barrier Technology, Superior PID Resistance
Betterial’s Ultra-Barrier Encapsulation Film for BC modules incorporates proprietary hydrolysis-resistant technology that effectively slows the degradation of EVA resin.
Its ion adsorption technology inhibits the migration of charged particles, while its ultra-low acid formulation significantly delays Ag/Al layer corrosion of the passivation layer.
2. Self-Developed BC Insulating Adhesive, Greater Stability
In BC solar cells, the positive and negative electrodes are both located on the rear side of the cell. Therefore, insulating adhesive is required to isolate adjacent electrical contacts and prevent short circuits between solder ribbons and electrodes.
To satisfy different customer process requirements, Betterial’s subsidiary Wisdom® has independently developed:
- Wisdom® BC Fast Thermal-Curing Adhesive
- Wisdom® BC UV-Curing Adhesive
Utilizing proprietary resin technology, these products achieves a faster curing rate and superior oxygen inhibition resistance under LED UV curing, while reducing the required amount of photoinitiator.
Validated through comprehensive testing, it demonstrates significant advantages in adhesion, damp heat resistance, and resistance to yellowing.
3. Ultra-High Transparency Encapsulation Film, Higher Light Transmission
Betterial® Ultra-Transparent EVA/EPE encapsulation film delivers more than 0.2% higher light transmittance across the 380–1100 nm wavelength range, higher light transmittance, lower refractive index, expanded light capture.
4. Infrared High-Reflective Black Technology, Higher Conversion Efficiency
Betterial’s Infrared High-Reflective Black and Ultra-High Reflective Black encapsulation technologies achieve reflectivities of up to 60% and 95%, respectively.
By utilizing highly reflective black pigments and fillers, these solutions significantly enhance internal light reflection, and improve photoelectric conversion efficiency by approximately 2%–4% for every 100 W of module power.
